Joe Biden Withdraws From Presidential Election
The current president of the United States, Joe Biden, has withdrawn from the presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the new Democratic Party nominee. This decision came after concerns about Biden’s health.
Recently, Donald Trump, Biden’s rival, claimed that Biden is not fit to run for president and serve the people. The media also speculated about Biden’s health. Though Biden did not reveal the specific reason for stepping down, he said his decision was in the best interest of his party and the country.
In his official statement, Biden wrote, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down … devote all of my notice to carrying out my presidential duties for the balance of my term.”
This is a significant political blow for the Democrats, coming just four months before the elections. Kamala Harris is now the frontrunner for the presidential ticket and could become the first Black woman to receive it.
With Biden stepping down, the election campaign has intensified between the Republicans and Democrats. Biden will continue to serve as president until January 2025.
