‘No Assembly Attendance, No Salary for KCR’

History pronounced Telangana’s opposition leader KCR’s first assembly coming since the state’s defeat in the 2023 legislative choices. While KTR and other BRS MLAs argue that KCR’s presence is gratuitous because other BRS MLAs can handle Congress, CM Revanth Reddy is worried with KCR for skipping the assembly.

Venkata Ramana Reddy, the Kamareddy MLA, chastised KCR this time and made a compelling argument against the BRS chief.

KCR is failing to recognize that the MLA position offers advantages beyond aesthetics. The people at large have trusted him with this civic responsibility.
As an MLA earning Rs 2.75 lakh a month, he cannot skip assembly meetings and stay at home. He should forfeit his MLA salary if he chooses not to attend the legislature and defend the interests of the citizens of his constituency, the BJP MLA emphasized.

The BJP leader went on to say that because KCR’s constituency supported him, he is entitled to benefits like allowances and special security procedures. He is entitled to all other MLA position privileges, including financial and ceremonial ones, but he cannot forego assembly meetings.

Reddy’s statements have weight because he has defeated KCR and Revanth Reddy in Kamareddy in the past. He may soon succeed in getting KCR to discontinue receiving his MLA salary in the event that he fails to show up for the assembly.
